Planned Capital Projects for 2024

-Equipment Purchase - Rough-Cut Mower.

-Drainage Upgrades - Golf Course Road  Replace main culvert, add proper culverts to existing approaches, install missing culverts in approaches, add culvert and approach to #6 and reshape drainage on whole street,
asphalt repair at top of road.

-Landscape Upgrades - various areas. 


These projects will be funded by the following provincial and federal grant dollars:  

Local Government Fiscal Framework Fund, Municipal Sustainability Initiative Capital Grant , Canada Community Building Fund.



Driveway Windrow Removal
Windrows will be removed from all lots that have a dwelling.   Residents that use their vacant lot over the winter are required to mark each side of their driveway with posts to have the windrow removed.



Sand/Chip Bins for Icy Walkways During the Winter Months
Sand bins are available for residents to use for icy walkways during the winter months.   These are bright yellow bins and are located throughout the Summer Village at the following locations:

-west side in front of 4 Hazel Avenue
-west side in front of 25 Willow Avenue
-east side in front of 2 Conifer Crescent
-east side of the top of the hill on Silver Sands Drive off of TWP 540
-east side in front of 17 Ash Avenue

-new bin has been placed at Fir Avenue (top of the hill by the 20km/hr sign)

There is also sand and gravel chips at the rear of the Quonset.  
Please bring your own pail to transport and only take what you require in order for there to be enough for everyone and so that we can continue to provide this service.



Year-Round Vehicle Axle Weight Restriction in Effect

Effective June 25, 2021 the Summer Village imposed a year-round 75% axle weight restriction on all roads within the Summer Village of Silver Sands.   This ban also applies to all water and sewer carriers.  Any requests for loads over the 75% axle weight restriction will be considered on an individual basis - please contact the Public Works Department to make this request.



Summer Village Compost Site - Now Open!
The Summer Village Compost site is located at the Public Works Quonset site.  Hours of operation are Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.   The site currently accepts leaves, grass clippings and lake weeds.



Do you need some compost material or mulch?  

The Summer Village may have some available!
